Have You Lost $40,000
An amazing story reporting in the Orlando Sentinel today. A box with over $40,000 in cash which was left at the Central Florida Toyota dealership Monday remains unclaimed at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Employees at the car dealership on Orange Blossom Trail noticed the small box Monday but did not open it, assuming someone would come back to the dealership and claim it, general manager James Farrell was quoted as saying.
Then on Tuesday, two employees in the parts department noticed the box, which slightly smaller than a shoe-box, was still there. They then opened it and discovered to their amazement that the box was full of money. He continued “I was in disbelief that somebody would, one, carry around that much cash in a box and, two, that they would leave it on a public display counter”. Farrell went on to say that the two employees who found the money want to remain anonymous because of the unusual circumstances surrounding the money.
The money now sits in the evidence room at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office — waiting to be claimed.

Young Patients To Be Greeted By Disney Characters At Florida Childrens Hospital
As reported in todays Orlando Sentinel ~ A new children’s wing at Florida Hospital to feature Disney characters in lobby play area. When it’s finished, the lobby of the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children will offer incoming patients a large support group full of familiar faces. Walt Disney World Orlando is planning to install large figures of selected Disney characters — such as Timon from The Lion King and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid — in a playgroundlike setting.
The characters, including Baloo, the big, lovable bear from The Jungle Book, were chosen because it’s hoped the support and protection they provided in their movie roles will apply as well to the hospital’s young patients, officials said. Most of the figures were on display at Disney World four years ago during a celebration of Disneyland’s 50th birthday.
The lobby will include a cave wall on which children can draw, musical step pads, virtual fish and dancing sea horses. Constellations will shine on the ceiling at night as music created by patients plays.
“With the help of Disney, we are able to create an environment that will hopefully help improve the healing process for all pediatric patients,” said Tim Burrill, assistant administrator of the children’s hospital, part of Florida Hospital’s main Orlando campus.

The scene Saturday night in downtown Orlando is one of jubilation as cars honk and Magic fans high-five each other to celebrate the victory of their hometown team. Hundreds of people packing Wall Street Plaza raised their arms, pumped their fists and cheered wildly at the moment the Magic clinched the win. In unison, they sang “We Are The Champions” by Queen.
“We’re going to whoop the Lakers,” said Porschia Powell, 22, as she danced in victory, wearing a cropped No. 15 Magic shirt. The number belongs to forward Hedo Turkoglu. “If we can take on LeBron [James] and we can beat the Celtics, Kobe [Bryant] is nothing.”
The crowd ran back and forth across Orange Avenue yelling and grinning for television cameras and shaking hands with strangers in cars that were stuck in the gridlock surrounding the merriment.
“I’m ecstatic,” said Christine Brown, 32, of Orlando. “I’m so proud of the team.” Thomas Noland, 22, held a Magic banner, waving it at passing cars and shouting, “Beat L.A.!”
“We’re all one. One city. One team. One goal. This is our year,” he said.
