The concept behind the DK Eyewitness Guides is simple and simply brilliant. Other guides may in fact give you more information, but this new Cuba Guide actually shows you what’s what. Standing on a street corner and checking your 679 page Rough Guide or the equivalent from Lonely Planet would be silly, but this DK guide lets you quickly find what you want to know. With national maps, regional maps, maps of important cities and even maps of particular areas of Havana it follows a tried and tested formula. Lots of information on wildlife, music, literature, transport, architecture, religion, sports, eating out and shoppping! I particularly like the 3d pictures of the inside of buildings!
One point of criticism: I could have done with more comment on political developments over the last decade. Still, there are other books if you want that sort of information.
As you might have gathered I bought more than one Cuba Guide. This DK Cuba Guide however, is the one to actually take with you on holiday

We went to Cuba recently and took with us a borrowed copy of an earlier edition of this book. It was so useful that when we returned I checked the Amazon site, found the latest edition at a bargain price, received it within a couple of days and now I’m reading it to see what we can look out for the next time we go!!DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: Cuba

The usual DK high standard guide packed full of information, photographs, illustrations and high standard guidance. Provides more detail than you will need for an average trip, even historians would not be disappointed although politics are not covered. A good comprehensive guide.
